Check out the discussions on Audioreview.com. I think the cable people like is Belden 89259 (stranded solid copper, with copper braid shield and teflon insulation). A little hard to find and you might have to buy a 100' spool, but then you can also make interconnects (or twisted-pair speaker wire) with it!

sure. you're not pushing much juice through there.

however, if you notice a humming sound from the sub, a good shielded wire should help.

I tried using a regular monster cable on my M&K sub once. The sound was not very good. I then splurged on a supposedly dedicated subwoofer cable also made by Monster cable. What a difference. I spent $50 on this cable and it was worth every penny. I didn't have the best of luck using a regular cable and I'm not sure why. Hopefully you will have better luck.

Although I have Monster subwoofer cable I have used regular RCAs in the past. It is basically the same and you can use it. If it isn't shielded well you may hear a humming sound. I asked this same question once to my audiophile friend who works in an electronics store and he said its pretty much all the same stuff with a different name.
