I saw a used Dolby digital 5.1/DTS decoder on sale for $30 and wanted to know before i purchased it how i would hook it up to my existing system. My current receiver is DD5.1 only. My receiver doesnt have have a digital out or else id try to run it through that, so is it even possible?

Your receiver would have to have 5.1 analog inputs to use this decoder.

It will look like a cluster of 6 RCA-type inputs, marked "R, L, C, RR, RL, Sub" or something similar.

Yup. You hook it up to the 5.1 inputs, and select that "input" on your receiver, and you should be all set.
