Ok, here's my deal. I want to get a 5-disc or more DVD changer. I only want to buy at Amazon, so I need to get what ever is available there. Here are my prerequisites:

1) At least 1 coax and digital out, preferably one of each

2) Plays CD-R discs

3) Component output (this is really minor, though)

So far, I've found this Samsung one, but it doesn't say if it plays CD-R discs.

Anyone know anything about this Panny player? http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004YC3W/106-8111064-0259656

If this falls though, I'll probably end up getting a single disc one that plays CD-Rs.

The best 5 DVD Changers I know of are the Toshiba SD-4205 and the Sony DVP-C650D.

Unfortunately, neither of these models are available at Amazon.com at this time.

I just purchased the Toshiba SD-4205 and it plays both 74-Minute and 80-Minute CD-Rs just fine. It also plays VCDs.

According to the review at eTown, the Samsung model you mentioned does NOT play CD-Rs. Here is the review:

The Toshiba SD-4205 will cost you around $399 or less. I paid $349 at SoundAdvice. You could contact OneCall.com and haggle it down.

I assume you want to use Amazon so you can use some Gift Certificates. I can't blame you.

Amazon.com does have the Pioneer DVC503. I checked that one out at Best Buy and it played 74-Minute and 80-Minute CD-Rs. It also plays VCDs.

The Toshiba SD-4205 plays HDCDs (High Definition Encoded CDs). That among its other features led me to buy that model.

If you have to buy from Amazon, I would buy the Pioneer. You can't go wrong with a Pioneer. I have one (single disc) at home and I love it.

Hope this helps.
