Hi,

I have just finished putting together my component cables. Well, I have hooked everything up and the picture my tv is giving is really wrong. Everything is black, white, green, and purple. Thats all the colours I have. I'm using RG6 cable with f connectors crimped on and then converted to RCA connections.

Someone help me please.

Thanks,

Go to radio shack and pick up a three pack of their gold series a/v cables. I got a pack that had three that were attached to each other (saves on tangles), and had straigh rca plugs on one end and f plugs on the other for 19.99 a while back. If they work keep them, if they don't they'll give you a full refund, just make sure you don't rip the hell out of the pack. If these cables don't work chances are their is a bad connection somewhere with the component inputs on the back of the tv or the back of you dvd player.

Hey,

Well, I've purchased good quality component video cables and hooked them up and unfortunately I still have the same problem. The picture remains in black and white with shades of purple and green. I've also tried switching the cables around in case one of the jacks is labelled incorrectly and still no success. I'm trying to connect a brand new Pioneer DV-333 to a Panasonic 27" CT27d10 television. I've tried 2 dvd players on this television with the same unsuccessful results so now I'm starting to think I've got a defective television.

Anyone else using this combination??

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Do you have to set your player to component out? I had that problem on an Apex until I figured it out.

Yeah that was the first thing I double checked. When I switch it the other way, I get no picture.

Thanks though.

Using RG-6 w/F-connector should be fine so I doubt the cables are the problem unless they are defective in some way. It's sounds more like you have the cables hooked up incorrectly. If hooked up incorrectly you will experience similar video anomalies. Just double check to be sure your Y, Pb, Pr are correctly connected between the TV and DVD player.

I had this problem when I was using an RCA cable with white, red, and yellow ends from Radio Shack. Problem was, while the yellow tip worked fine (they provided the black/white image) the red and white cords were useless since they were "for ausio" and didnt have enough oomph to them.

Solution: I returned that to Radio Shack and bought 3 separate Video cables. Works like a charm now.

Hey,

Well I thought I would update on my cable problem I mentioned earlier. I returned my TV and exchanged it for a 27" JVC D Series and my original component cables I put together work great. The picture is awesome.

My thanks to everyone who tried to help. IN the end, the TV was to blame.

Thanks
