I got this from Amazon and you can put it in a shelf since it small and it is ok though it is false when they say the HD picture on antennas is better than satellite and streaming.

The on screen graphics during a news show looks grainy.


A lie that picks up signals from 900 miles or I would get the Sacramento and LA stations in the Bay Area.

If you have a Smart TV you can get most of the major 3 letter broadcast networks there and the picture quality is better.

It's been a few years since I did any OTA viewing, but at that time the OTA image was absolutely better than streaming or cable/satellite.

Are there 4K OTA broadcasters?

Looking at the web page for this thing, there's a whole lot of complete bullshit.

In my metropolitan area, several of the local networks have an OTA channel on the ATSC 3.0 standard which is the standard that supports 4K content. However, none of them really broadcast 4k content. Some do broadcast HDR in 1080p with Dolby Atmos though.

That thing looks HUUUGE! w/ 1970s aesthetic and sensibilities in mind.

I use a regular antenna, tried a powered one but reception oddly wasn't good. What helped was getting a 15' extension cable so the antenna can be placed in the window. We get close to 40 OTA channels here. Not too shabby.

It is really small but not too small.

Maybe if it came with a HDMI cable the picture would not look so soft.

Bad memories of the days without cable and there was nothing on on the rabbit ears antenna and shitty picture quality.

All you get mostly on a HD antennae is shopping and foreign news channels.

That doesn't make sense. It's an antenna that is only designed to connect to the input on an OTA tuner. It does not have a built-in tuner, so it would have nothing to convey over an HDMI connection. The picture quality of an otherwise stable signal on any given OTA channel mainly depends on the level of compression used by the broadcast source and has very little to do with the antenna.

This depends entirely on where you are. If you're near a metropolitan area, you should be able to get local ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, CW and PBS networks OTA in HD along with a lot of less prominent broadcast channels like MeTV, TrueCrime, Bounce, Laff, etc that are usually in SD. Those local affiliates usually also have SD sub-channels dedicated to local weather, old shows, etc. You can get a lot of good content OTA with good local affiliates nearby.

For me maybe it is best used as a backup if one of the major networks have a carriage dispute or if the satellite and internet is out.

Obviosly no HBO, ESPN, TNT, USA, NFL. Network. MTV, etc with those antennaes so a lot less fun.

I bought another one for the master bedroom and the picture quality is a lot better since maybe there are 6 windows in that room and a window behind the TV so I put the antenna right next to it.

Still I think the max is 88 channels and I get doubles of some channels which don't have clear signals.
