Re: Is Amazon super saver shipping safe for TVs?
I'm sure I didn't upgrade on any shipping option. My recollection is that when it was delivered the guy brought it in, took it out of the box and set it up. I vaguely remember him suggesting not to turn it on for a few hours--it was January, I believe, so it was on a truck for a good portion of the day in cold temperatures. It was a good experience, from what I recall.

Cool. Not sure if mine will be brought in or not. If I upgraded it gave me an actual delivery date, the super saver just gives me a 4 day window.

I went and looked at my Amazon order history -- my shipping note indicated the carrier would contact me. While I don't remember that specifically, they must have done so to make sure I was going to be home.

Got the order confirmation email with the 4 day window last night. No official shipping email yet. We'll see what happens when I get that.

Most large TVs get delivered by specific freight companies like CEVA. If anything, I'd say the slow ground shipping would be safer than something expedited.

Knowing amazon.com they will ship it in a bubble mailer.

He didn't ruffle my feathers, made me chuckle a bit. I did get the shipping email notifying me that they will call to set up an appointment.

I'd rather deal with Amazon customer service (if there was a problem) than anybody else in the whole wide web.

I ordered my panasonic plasma from Amazon, and the shipped through a special carrier. THANK GOD IT WAS NOT UPS, because I told them I'd have to cancel my order if this was the case. I think it was Ceva Logistics who delivered the TV to me. The guy was really nice.

I ordered a 65" plasma from Amazon. Delivery was great. They called me to confirm a date and the delivery guys brought it in the house, unpacked it and carried it downstairs to the basement. Plus the purchase qualified for some price matcher policy and they actually refunded me $120 a couple weeks later due to the price dropping.

He's probably still watching movies on that awesome television. Who needs DVD Talk when you got something like that.

oops, forgot to update. Everything went smooth. The carrier called me to set up a time. Carried the box upstairs. Unpacked it and made sure the TV turned on, etc. Smooth as could be.

Yeah, white-glove delivery is the way to go. Everything went smoothly until turning the tv on...we spent a good 45min working on it...audio but no picture. Talked with Amazon's customer service (wait times very short)... CEVA boxed it back up, and we'll try again next week.
