if i buy a dts dvd, will it still play on a dd 5.1 receiver? or does it only have dts & the lowest form of audio?

All DTS dvds will at least play Pro-Logic, but do yourself a favor and get a DTS receeeeeiver. Then you can hear that movie in excellence.

Every DVD is required to have either a DD track or a PCM track. Usually, on DTS only DVDs, the required DD track is surround, only. Many newer discs are coming with DD5.1 AND DTS on the same disc, though. BUT, to hear DTS, you need a DTS decoder, as DTS is different from DD.
