I'm an avid television watcher, and all my favorite shows are coming out in complete season sets on Region 2 (AbFab, Friends, etc.) as of now it doesn't look like they'll come out in their entirity on Region 1.

Would it be a mistake to buy a Raite player? http://www.raite715.com/ (It seems they've replaced Raite with a new player)

I wanted to get a mod chip for my current player, but I can't find any places that do modifications.

I'd really appreciate your insight.

In my opinion, if you're going to spend the money, you might as well get a name-brand player that has been modified. I know a couple of places sell them. http://www.earthstations.com/cgi-loc...egionFree.html

I have no idea what the "System Advance MicroProducts DVD+MP3 w/Loophole Menu" player is. Raite and Apex both temporarily had players that were region selectable from the menu. Don't know if you can still find any. Remember, you've also got to worry about NTSC/PAL compatibility issues, too. Sorry, I don't really know anything about region-free stuff, but you can search this forum for previous threads.

Are the Sampo 620s readily available? Do you have a good source for picking one up?

Just kind of curious, what type of DVD player do you currently own? You might want to check www.electronicsdirect.com , they do some mods

Thanks, Frozen. I just ordered a Sampo 620 while some of those buy.com coupons are still working.

Is there some sort of "secret menu" to make it regionfree, I'd appreciate any pointers so I don't freak out when it arrives, and I can't get it to work.
