I just want to know, before hand what cables i'll need to hook this beast up to my entertainment center. I don't know if the games are going to feature dd5.1 or not. I have a Sony De-445 receiver with my dvd player going into the coaxial digital connection. Would the psx2 going to the optical digital connection? Oh, what is this, people saying that you can use a gold tip rca cord for a optical digital cord???

The PS2 has a digital optical out as well as the standard A/V and S-Video out as well as component out. There is no definite answer to whether the games will have a 5.1 soundtrack other than in the intros and cut scenes although this is possible. If you are planning on watching DVDs and infact even if you are not the best connections would be the digital optical out for the audio and either the S-Video or component out for the video depending on the connections on your receiver and TV. By the way there is no need to go with Monster cables as any brand cables should work fine. Monster cables are only really woth it if you have a high end HT setup.
