This Player has too many many glitches when playing back movies like T2, ID4, etc.
Is there a fix for this or am I just stuck w/ a crappy DVD player?
Is the "raite" DVD player any good?

The AD-600A is clearly a low-end entry-level machine. (I know, I've got one too). It does not handle seamless branching well, meaning you'll have difficulty with titles such as T2, ID4, Stuart Little, and others.

You *can* watch these DVDs by turning off "PBC" mode (I think it stands for "Play Back Control"), which will result in the player ignoring any "branching" instructions at the end of each chapter. It will play your DVDs one chapter after the other, like a CD player does. To do this, press the "PBC" button on your remote, then when the chapter selection menu come up on your screen, select the chapter you want to start with.

For T2, you will NOT be able to see any of the alternate versions, but you can STILL select these individual scenes manually.

The only way to fix this is to return the unit to your retailer to get an EEPROM upgrade, but if you do that, you'll lose the Loophole menu functions. Personally, I use the Apex to watch Region 2 DVDs and to run the video output through my VCR. I use another DVD player for everything else.

I have one with the menu too, and I would hardly consider myself "stuck" since you can sell it on ebay for twice what you paid. Consider it a second player for playing other regions, PAL, MP3, and busting macrovision. It's not a good main player. You can get the upgrade kenbuzz talked about, and then you will have a low-quality player that you can hardly give away on ebay.
