I measure the sound level with the spl meter of my mains and there's a difference of 2-3dB between my left and right. is that normal? or is it because my right main is closer to the wall than the left (due to unavoidable limitation). Pls enlighten, thanks

Having one speaker closer to the wall than the other will increase the SPL at your listening position, due to the increased reflection of sound.
[begin techno dork mode]
For example, this is the reason that you put subs in a corner whenever possible. The two walls fairly nearby effectively cut the sound field volume by a factor of 8, so you hear the sub as being louder when it's placed in a corner.
Placing a speaker near a wall puts a plane through the sound field, and thus induces a factor of 2 gain (over a point source in the middle of a room)
[/techno dork mode]
However, a 2-3 dB difference in SPL is barely distinguishable by the human ear, so it really isn't something to worry about. (3 dB is typically considered the threshold of distinguishability.......yeah, made up word, I know, but that's what I've seen used)
HTH!

I have a question on placing the sub. Do you place it right up against the wall, or do you want a space of x number of inches? I have mine about 10" from the wall I would say.
