Re: Distortion on left channel...

Just to put a little closure on this thread, this receiver is sounding GREAT through my Sony towers (in conjunction with the speakers in the Pioneer HDTV). As far as calibrating, all I did was crank the bass & treble, not a whole lot else you can do with this receiver. It has a 'Pure Audio' button that doesn't appear to do much of anything ("The Pure Audio listening mode allows you to enjoy purer sound by disabling the video signal output and turning off the indication in the display")...:scratch2: I can't tell any difference between sounds with it on or off.

All I needed was 2 channel stereo, don't have a 5.1 or 7.1 setup, neither my wife nor I were interested in spreading speakers all over the room, this arrangement suits us just fine and sounds REALLY good...:)

is that the receiver underneath the tape deck?, no ventilation?, I know Onkyo receivers can get really hot.

Actually, it's a room that was built on the back of the house by the elderly couple who owned the house before us. We made it our TV room, it's really quite cozy, two steps down from the dining room, it's our room away from any prying eyes.

The whole back of the cabinet the equipment is in is open so it can get all the air it needs. No worries there. -kd5-

Wrong Battlestar Galactica.

It would be better to stack source components instead of a receiver, most of them don't get as hot as amps. But it shouldn't be a huge problem.
