The Italians confirm it: Having a television in the bedroom cuts your sex life in half. A recent study by a team of sexologists in Rome found Italians who live without a TV in the bedroom have sex eight times a month. Those with a TV, only four. While this is a scathing indictment of bedroom televisions, many couples counselors say a television is not the only thing in a bedroom that can zap your mojo.

But does that study factor in siesta which is also common in S. Italy? Because most babies are concieved during siesta. I'm guessing it's more fun to have sex in the afternoon than at night when you just want to fall asleep in front of the TV after a long day of work.

i was counting on getting a bunch of best buy gift cards and being limited to 42" but i got a bunch of cash instead. it was only $50 more for the 46" off amazon (factoring in tax) than buying 42" at BB, so i figured why the hell not. plus i had $100 in credit there, too.

I also took the plunge on a plasma for my bedroom this week. Grabbed a Panasonic Viera TC-P42GT25 for just under $600 from Amazon. I was having a hard time choosing between it and the LG 50PK550 plasma. They both could be had for $680 through Amazon, but for some reason the Panasonic started to lower in price all of last week. I jumped on it yesterday and the set should be delivered this Thursday.

This is my first plasma. I've only ever owned tube TVs and the 65-inch Mitsubishi CRT I still love that's in my living room. I'm not really interested in the 3D that this new Panny has, but it's nice to know I have it should I change my mind.

it's dropping in price b/c CES is next week and all the new products will be announced. Trying to get rid of inventory is the likely reason.

Why not? It's not a CRT, there's less use to aging a plasma in the first place. But watching TV will also break it in. You just shouldn't bother calibrating it until after the first 100 hours. (maybe)

Re: Torn on buying plasma vs. LCD for bedroom use (long post)

i'm going based on what several people who do calibrations have posted in the thread on AVS. they say you can watch it as well, but most recommend doing the 100 hours of slides with minimal use.

I'm with Spiky. Watch the damn thing!

And while I love me some AVS, you have to continue to use your own judgement. I've read through 30 page threads discussing the amount of pigment to paint boards for a screen. Or even the hooks you use to hang a screen. Again, love them, but wow, can they go to extreme!!

I certainly think you can see a difference between plasma and LCD and I recommended a Panny plasma. I don't recommend any plasma, but do and did recommend the panny plasma.
I know what you meant and said, and a 42" 1080 is significantly better than a 42" 720 set.

According to some calculators, the distance to tv would be perfect or a 65" set.

I used that argument with the missus. 65" DLP is the awesome.

I have two rows of seating in my media room. One at 10.5 and one at 12.5 with a little less than 8 FOOT screen (is cute and all those that still measure their display in inches). I prefer the second row, tho depending on the source 10.5 can be pretty sweet.
