I have not personally heard any Denon subwoofers besides one that came in a complete home theater in a box system. I would say shy away from Denon subs only on the fact that they are more renowned for their receivers, cd players etc. I have never seen a pair of their speakers or a sub for sale separately here in the states but they may have a larger market in Europe which I do not know of. If the price is right though, and they satisfy your needs, I don't see why it would be a bad choice taking into account the quality of the rest of thier components.
