What's the difference between them? I couldn't find any in their specs.

There's no difference aside from the name, some colors of lettering, and where you can buy them. Cloud's first link doesn't go to the rxv596, it goes to the rx596. VERY different machines.

Info is rather limited though...

I'm with cartman. The features on both receivers look identical.

I know this won't help much but a dealer told me there is a difference in terms of performance between the RXV and the HTR series.

Yeah, I was told the same thing by a dealer. He said RXV series has better performance and is not sold on web or by mailorder.
