Help getting HDTV connected to wireless

Hi everyone,

I have a Panasonic Viera HDTV with Netflix capabilities (as well as a blu-ray player with BD-Live potential).
Here's the issue:

The TV only has a hookup for an ethernet cable, but there's no ethernet cable in that room. It DOES have a USB port, so my question is: could I buy one of the USB sticks that grabs your wireless signal and plug it into my TV?

I've looked into wireless bridges, but they're kind of expensive for my needs.

Generally you can only get a USB stick that was made to work with your HDTV/BD player. That's usually a relatively expensive that one that the manufacturer coincidentally happens to provide.

Yikes - I didn't know they were that expensive.

In that case, I might just buy a 4-port wireless bridge ($70).

You can send a single channel to your HDTV using a wireless extender with a remote extender that lets you change channels from a different room. But I don't think there's a consumer model of something that would send all cable channels wirelessly to another room so that you could tune on the HDTV in your room.

Well, there's the Leapfrog and others like it. But I don't think there's one that can handle HD bandwidth coming from a cable box. Some are wireless, some transfer over the electric lines in your house to go anywhere.

If it was PC sourced, you could use wireless networking with the HP Wireless TV or Apple TV or similar. Or some sort of Slingbox setup, but that would require more hardware, driving the price up.

You could also find a good contractor that could put in a line. Anything is possible. I mean, you obviously have electric there....

Re: Help getting HDTV connected to wireless

ya thanks for the fast replies.

Ill explain what I want and why I cannot put a cable wire to the room. I just renovated the house and it is now freshly painted. I really dont want to drill holes etc...

I dont really mind if the TV in my room is not hd. I dont mind changing channel in another room... I would like to simply watch tv in that room.

Yes, I do have electricity and wireless internet too

Or the option of connecting my hdtv to my computer in that room is also possible

I am really ignorant of this kind of technology I will need precise details

Thanks a lot
Karl

You can buy those adapters that plug into an electrical outlet and use that to get internet. Check monoprice.com. Very good reviews on them over there.

Search for Terk Leapfrog and compare it and the other products you'll get with that search.
