Hmm.

I have the same TV. (60A2020) I replaced the bulb before the warranty was over. I haven't noticed any problems with green and the optical block. I will have to keep an eye on this thread.

Got the second optical block replacement a couple of days ago and so far it has been fine. If you're thinking about getting this done then you better act soon as there is only a few months left they will cover it with their extended warranty.

My 60A2020 is still going strong. I have an extended warranty through ABC Warehouse also...

I haven't noticed any issues, but it makes me wonder if I am just not seeing it.

Just watch TV, sometimes on a commercial you see a reall white screen, and if you can't tell then, then you're not having an issue. It's really easy to spot on a really white, or even a really dark screen.

If you watch black and white programming and it is not black and white you will clearly have a problem. Mine was black and greenish before it was fixed but the color issues vary.

Seems like Sony way giving some good deals to the XBR1 owners....us with the 60A2020 are getting nothing but a new optical block (if it goes bad). I cannot complain as mine is still going strong, but I'm sure just after the extended Sony warranty runs out....it will die.

Re: Anyone else having Optical Block problems on their Sony RPTV?

I have the 60A2000 SXRD and have had the optical block replaced once so far. The "new" (more like refurbished) one was much better but not perfect, I see a very slight green tinge in the upper left and lower right corners, noticable only on a mostly white or grey screen, otherwise not noticable at all while watching movies, etc. It hasn't worsened in the year since I've had this block and since Sony is no longer making the blocks and are now just sending out refurbed replacement blocks, it's a crap shoot as to if another replacement will be better or worse. I still have two years on my Best Buy extended warranty, and their no lemon policy states that if it's fixed two more times and still isn't good, I'll get a replacement (my uncle is a manager at the store I bought it at, so at least they won't try to screw me ), so I'll probably try another repair soon. Too bad, because other than this big issue, the SXRDs are fantastic TVs, what a shame.

What pisses me off more than anything, is that SONY knew about the defect in their optical blocks before they even sold the TV's, and what'd they do? Did they scrap it? Nope. They offer a 'we'll replace it' program warranty, which means nothing since most of the optical blocks will eventually fail, and then they get out of selling RPLCD HDTV's. They robbed us. They robbed you, they robbed me, and I'll never buy another Sony TV again. I bought a Samsung that I'm perfectly content with, and I think I'll continue to buy their TV's in the future.

I hope the new block at least gives you a little more mileage, because if it works and works well, then I advise you start saving money for a new TV now, and buy a new one as soon as you have the chance.
I did not have your problem, I had the rainbow line problem that I fix last night. What bug me the most is today I am going out to get a new LCD to replace this. The Sony person only wanted to send someone out. The fixes he had me do was a waste of time. There is more but I can say today I will not be bring home a Sony. I know things happen. It what a company does to fix the problem means a lot to me.
