i am looking to buy a new tv and i was wondering if i should go with a 27" wega tv..
or a 32" jvc d-series tv... and if there were any good alternatives... and also if there was any good deals on either of these tv's.......

I say bigger is better.Also have you checked out the Toshiba Cinema Series.I am using a 32" CN32G90 that is two years old,and the picture is fantastic!

It is hard to beat the picture on a Wega...and the difference in size between the wega 27 and the jvc 32 aren't that huge. If it was a 36 maybe, but you gotta love that picture on the Wega.

I may be in the minority here, but I feel the size difference between 27 and 32" to be like night and day. Compare a few widescreen dvd's and you might feel the same. I was less willing to justify the extra cost of the 36", as the 32 inch seems sufficient when we're all just going to toss it into the bedroom once HDTV widescreens hit our budget.

I believe the viewing area on a 32" set is 40% larger than that of a 27". If you plan on watching widescreen DVD's you will really notice the difference. I used to have an RCA 27", but recently upgraded to a Toshiba 32" and it's a lot bigger to me. Unfortunately, I feel the upgrade has only wet my appetite for even larger screen sizes and am thinking about upgrading soon to a 55" 16X9 set (mitsubishi) in the near future. Basically, I would say go with the largest screen size that you can afford, assuming it has decent picture quality. If you go with the 27" though, I think you will soon regret it.

don't let that stop you. unless you're room is reeeeally small.

I to agree the size difference between a 27" & 32" TV is pretty substantial.

I, too, am looking to buy a new TV -- either a 27 or 32 inch. The only problem is that my viewing distance is only 6 feet (reclining chair in upright position) or 7 feet (reclining position).

At these distances, how does the picture look (i.e., are scan lines a problem?) with the following sources:
1. local broadcasts via rabbit ear antenna
2. satellite TV for movie channels like HBO
3. DVD player (Toshiba SD2108) ** most important IMO

My current home theater setup has me sitting about 8 feet from the 32" set and it's not a problem...but then again I have directv and watch dvds. Cable looks like crap as does vhs. Your not gonna be living in a dorm room forever...right?

i have about 6ft. of viewing distance and ....true i won't be in a dorm room for a long time (hopefully) .....but i like quality not quantity (inches) ...also i am running a jvc dvd player to it and video games.....thanx everyone!
