Hi,
Have been away from the dvd scene for a while and need some advice.
I will be buying a HD set in Jan or Feb but am thinking of picking up a ps3 now and am wondering if i buy blu ray dics will I be able to watch them on my old tv set (in standard def obviously)
Also, Are there any rumors about ps3 updates or any other issues I should know ?.
Thanks

You can watch them and they might look slightly better than DVD but you need the HDTV to really see the difference. At least your looking ahead.
As far as updates, I'm sure they'll release some new models (different size HDDs, mainly) but the system software is upgradeable. They release a new version about once a month, it seems. The PS3 is probably the best bet for a BD player, right now, if you consider price and features.

Thanks for the feedback. My main aim is to split the expenses over a few months to make it easier for the wife to say yes to all the new new toys
The PS3 seems a good stating point. does anyone use it as a media center ? i've seen some mac compatible software advertised and was wondering if anyone here uses it?.
Thanks
