Blue spot on HDTV. Is my TV a goner?
I just noticed a strange blue spot on my Panasonic RP LCD. It is a small half circle of blue in the very bottom center of the screen about an inch across. It only turns blue when the screen is trying to display white or similar light color. The more it is supposed to show white the more noticeable the blue is.
My image has seemed dimmer lately and I was thinking I might need a bulb, but this is probably something else. Anyone heard of something like this? I'm thinking this is a major problem with the TV and since it is out of warranty I am probably SOL. Anyway, if anyone has ideas I appreciate it.

Well, traditionally a single color problem like that suggests a stuck pixel on an LCD. Or possibly blue is the only color working at that spot, both the other colors are dead pixels. You need all 3 in some combination to get white onscreen. There isn't much you can do about dead or stuck pixels.
Half circle seems odd, but it is an RPTV, there are other possibilities. If you can open it up maybe you'll find it is just a dust bunny in the light path. Or a smudge somewhere. That would be much better, financially speaking.
Dimmer does suggest the lamp is getting weak. But that shouldn't be able to cause a single spot issue like your blue spot.

I decided to get a new TV. Best Buy has no interest for 3 years and I have nothing on my Best Buy account anymore so I picked up a 52" Sharp Aquos. Free Blu-ray player helps a bit. I decided against getting another rear projection.
