HDCP Issues

I just tried watching The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman Season 1 on my Philips DVP5982 and apparently the disc is encoded with HDCP, which totally messed up my dvd player for a bit. I had to unplug it for it to work again. Anyone know of a workaround or if Philips is aware of their player's HDCP incompatibility?

Excuse me for being ignorant, but I thought SD DVD couldn't have HDCP encoding at all?

^ I thought that as well, but apparently they can if you are transmitting the images/audio via HDMI as I am. But, according to the Wikipedia entry for "HDCP" it is used on SD DVD players as well. Here's the link to the Wiki entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDCP

I know wiki can be wildly inaccurate at times, but I am leaning to believing them in this instance since it actually happened to me. "Display does not support HDCP" was the error message I got when I tried to play the dvd, then my screen went to static.
