not finalized DVD discs
I have about 40 DVD+R discs the were recorded on a DVD recorded I no longer have and THE WERE NOT FINALIZED. I now have a new Panasonic DVD recorder and, of course, they won't play.
Is there any way to get these discs finalized or recover the shows recorded on them. For the most part I do not have the VCR tape that contain the original material. Or did I make 40 coasters!!!!
HELP

DVD Talk Platinum Edition
there definitely is a way to either finalize them on your pc using nero or extracting the info off of the disc and reburning it, and then finalizing it. However, I'm not sure which programs to use.

I don't think you'll be able to do anything with them, unless you get another recorder, exact same model, as the one they were made on.
Not being finalized, I don't think the computer will see the disc..........
Why did you burn that many, and not finalize them?
With the Panasonic, I suggest you finalize after you finish burning the disc.

When I put a unfinalized disc in my new recorder, the new recordes won't let me record on it.
It was worth a try. I would have been neat if it had worked.
It is puzzling! the DVD recorder recognizes the disc has data on it and that it's not finalized, but can't or won't allow one to do anything about it.
