Tv Busted, Sears is Replacing
Well I bought a Panasonic 47wx49 Tv like 3 or so years ago and it broke 3x this year and it was the last year for my warranty. They tried over and over but it kept breaking, so after 7 months of trying to fix it I got the call yesterday that they are going to replace it.
Has anyone got a replacement TV from Sears before if they don't have the model you originally bought or even one close to it? When I went to Sears last week to browse I didn't see any RPTV, and only 3 DLP's. Since it was a 47" TV it is not like they can give me one that size unless they go Plasma or LCD. If they give me a credit for what I spent, I think it was like 1200.
Just a thought of what people would recommend from Sears if I am given a choice. I for sure do not want to go smaller then 47", when I had my 32" Aquos down there temp while the Panny was getting "fixed" it was way to small for my Living room. Well enough of the ramble, any thoughts or suggestions, or idea what is going to happen. I don't mind at all kicking in for more if they let me so I can get something better. Thanks.

I assume they will just give you instore credit for the amount you orginally spent. Which is actually a sweet deal for you because TVs have dropped in price since 3 years ago. Might as well put that money towards whatever newer technology is to your liking.

That is my thought, even a few more or few added to that. Any thoughts on models they sell. Only thing I am against is Sony since I have had multiple problems with them on all levels of Customer Service, breakage, and replacement. I should find out in a few hours what they offer, they still sell one RPTV but I have no desire to get that.

I agreed with Panasonic Plasmas, I have a 42" Panny TH-42PX60U and a 46" Samsung DLP. Both work great for me, although I use the DLP for movies and night viewing only really.

I just went through this with BB.
The first store I went to said I could only replace my CRT-RPTV with another one, and the only one they carried was a 50" Hitachi, which was 7" smaller than my current TV.
I went to another BB and they replaced it with another 57", I had to only pay the $100 price difference between my original set and the new 1080P DLP. I jumped on it immediately, and now have 60 days to hope they drop the price so I can get money back.
Just be persistent, do not take a downgrade. Talk to a manger, and leave an come back another time to tr again, or go to a different store.

Ok I talked to them today and their offer was a Hitachi 51" RPTV for free or the 1000.00 as a credit to anything else. Like I said that I would like to stay 47" or bigger, and I am willing to put another 1k to the price. Any thoughts? Thanks for all the input everyone.

Well, they are still keeping $200.
I think I would personally take the loss and buy a newere model (LCD/Plasma/DLP) with integrated HD and possibly 1080P.
I would go so far as to try and get the $200 off the extended warranty on the new set.

Ok I am planning on going down tomorrow to get something, I have $1k to apply, here are my thoughts, but I am open to anything else. My viewing distance to my couch is ~16', so my current RPTV is 14'. I am looking at:
Samsung HP-S4253 42" Plasma $1800
Panasonic TH-50PX60U 50" Plasma $2000
Sharp LC-42D62U 42" LCD $2300 (1080p)
Samsung LN-S4051D 40" LCD $1620
Thanks for any suggestions and help.
