DVD player partially blocking vent on DVR
I just bought a new Sony NS75H DVD player...and upon getting it home, because of its small size, I am having trouble placing it in my TV stand. My previous player sat underneath my Scientific Atlanta cable DVR.
But the new Sony DVD player is too small for that, so I have had to set it on top of my DVR. My concern is that it covers about 2 inches of the vent openings on the DVR. There are still about 2 inches of vent openings on the top, and unobstructed openings on the sides. The TV stand itself is open and well ventilated. I was wondering if this setup could possibly do damage to either the DVR or DVD player. If so, I may have to find a larger DVD player.

Proper ventelation is a must. However just what is "proper".
I put my DVD in a close cabinet (using a RF remote) and DVD player sitting on top of it. Now I drilled some holes in the back of the cabinet, but probably not enough.
However 3 years later, no problems. And we just leave it on. I don't think I have turned the power off in all that time.
