Help with new HDTV

Ok I am in the market for a New HDTV and I have come down to the HItachi 51'' CRT HDTV. I would however like to know what do I have to do after I get my tv home. I have heard a lot about calibration and I don't know anything about it. Also which dvd shoudl I use to check the PQ.
Suggest what newbie in the world of HDTV should do when the TV arrives.

Also this is a off topic question. But I am going to ask my girlfriend to pick up the TV as both of us live in different states. I will go and visit her during christmas. Can she pay for the TV now at say Bestbuy or Circuit city and then I can pick it up when I go there. Do these stores allow this kind of thing.

Thanks

Well you don't say what you are going to be watching, cable, satellite, dvd etc.

My advice would be to connect it and see how it looks on whatever source you have and then report back with more specific questions.

DVE. That's Digital Video Essentials. Check out deepdiscountdvd this week where everything is on sale for 20% off. DVE will be about $13. The first thing you want to adjust is your contrast on a CRT TV if you get it and don't have a setup DVD yet, turn it down below 50%. Otherwise, follow the instructions onscreen in the DVD.

I'm sure BB would be happy to take your girlfriend's money instead of yours. Where you travel with the TV after that won't bother them in the slightest. That sounds like a question you need to ask HER, not us.
