I have a Toshiba (can't remember the model #) in our bedroom and no matter which disc I have playing, it constantly comes up with some kind of pixellation error at some point. It is often fleeting - and if I rewind and play the scene back it will not come up a second time.

I have not had the player long (less than a year).

My wife bought me Platoon for Christmas, and it consistently turns on French subtitles at the layer change! Playing it downstairs on my Panny doesn't do this though . . .

Does this player need to be cleaned? Could there be something that is causing these minor pixellation errors to crop up?

Could be. Could also just be a poor player. Tosh seems to be going downhill in quality. I just don't get it, they seem to want to fail.

There are lens-cleaning discs, but I steer clear of them since they could damage the machine. If you opened it up, you could try cleaning the laser lens with alcohol on a Qtip. Very carefully though, you could damage the machine, too.
