Malata N996 & 16:9 problem
I have a Malata N996 - have had it for years, and love it.
I just bought my first 16:9 plasma TV, and I'm experiencing some odd behavior. I have the player set for TV Type 16:9, have all my component video settings set, etc.
Many DVDs (most in fact) have their menus appear as 4:3. The movie looks and plays fine (in the right aspect ratio) but the menus don't fill the screen. (These same DVDs show up as 16:9 menus on my Sony DVD player.)
Also, some DVD's dont "act" 16:9 friendly -- for example the Chris Cunningham DVD (part of The Directors series on Palm DVD) -- the videos show up as letterbox, but not stretched to the length of the TV screen. Sure, I can manually fiddle with the X,Y settings, but why should I have to? Again, this DVD works fine on my Sony DVD player.
Any thoughts? Is this a known problem with the N996?
