What was Best Buy Thinking with their "HDTV Demo" DVD?
Hey all,
I picked up one of the free "Watch This First" HDTV Demo DVD's -- and
1) It's not in 16x9
2) The THX Demo that they show is of the worst pic quality i have ever seen on DVD...
How are people supposed to be impressed / convinced by this crap?
Matt

Are they giving these out at the stores? I'll pick one up no matter how crappy it is, I love free DVDs!
I have to ask what is Best Buy thinking with most of its TVs instore- most are either 4x3 showing squeezed 16x9 material, or 16x9 screens showing stretched 4x3 pictures! I've complained about this several times in their online surveys, saying this is why I will never actually buy a TV from them!

Hello....
They were giving them away about a month and a half ago. They are DVD-RAM's i think -- because my DVD player said "this software is 4:3" wich is a message i have never seen on my Panasonic RP-82 before.... It comes in a slim jewel case....

This is why a specialty store is always your best best and at least deserves a shot at your business. A chain store only wants to move boxes out the door.

Even so.... this THX sample was literally 2nd generation VHS quality. I kept waiting for the screen to swipe over with a crystal clear picture saying "see the difference?" But nope-- that was it....haha.

BB probably had their employees bootleg the VHS originals on DVDs in the stockroom.

I never saw the DVD or how it is labelled, so maybe that's not it's purpose...

Hello,
Actually, for those who don't know better -- this DVD would make you want to return your HDTV -- haha, it's that bad.
Oh well....
