Errors on Calibration DVDs

Hey all,

During my "problem with THX Optimization" thread, it was brought up that each calibration DVD has it's problems (Video essentials, avia, etc). I searched avsforums and other places but came up with no decent results. Can anyone here vouch for the errors/problems? If you could name the DVD and the problem (work around, or fix) , that would be great. I'll start.....

1) THX Optimizer (included on many dvd's): Problem - even with the proper setup, the spatial surround test tone test will not produce audio form certain speakers with certain receivers. If works fine on others. No known fix.

Thanks,

Matt

Oh sure, make me back up my comments! I only have S&V and VE. That's the "Avia-light" and the old disc from Video Essentials. So I'll quote some reading material instead of claiming I know all the facts. This forum I'm referencing is dedicated to these products, many threads may be useful, or a search. HTS makes it easier to find stuff than AVS or (god forbid) HTF since they have more specific forums usually.

Versions?

Hello,

I noticed that at BestBuy, when they look in their system for "Digital Video Essentials," 2 results come up. One has a release date of 2003, and one has a release date of 2004. They are ordering the 2004 version for me -- but i was just curious if there was a difference. As far as i can tell, there are only 2 actual versions -- the OLD Video Essentials. and the newer Digital Video Essentials...

Thanks,

Matt

The release date of it slipped by quite a while. Maybe they're just reflecting the original expected release date and when it actually came out.
