Ejecting / Unmounting without iTunes on PC
Hey all,
The only problem I am having now with my 1G ipod, is that I am having trouble unmounting it. I don’t have iTunes installed, I use Vpod which syncs fine. However, when I go to the menu in vpod and select “unmount” the program says that the ipod is unmounted, but the ipod still shows “do not disconnect”. Is there another way to unmount / eject the ipod so it’s “safe” to disconnect? Is there any kind of ipod connection manager I can use? If it helps, I am using my ipod via powered firewire card on a windows XP (service pack 1) laptop.
Thanks a ton!

When your iPod is plugged in, there should be a small icon on your task bar with a little green arrow. If you hover over it, it should say "Safely Remove Hardware". Double click it to open, then select your iPod and hit Stop.

Hello --
I noticed that. However, since I am using a Firewire card for my laptop, that card itself has a green arrow icon. I didn't notice a second for the ipod -- perhaps, next time, if i "eject" the firewire card while the ipod is attached, that will do the trick. If this doesn't fix it -- is it a big problem just unplugging it (when it's not syncing, of course)?
Thanks,
Matt
