1:66:1 aspect ratio on a Widescreen TV??

I have a widescreen LCD TV and recently played a movie with a 1:66:1 OAR. I then had black bars on the side of the image. Is that normal?

Thanks!

Yep.

When the aspect is not as wide as the screen, you get bars on the sides. When the aspect is not as tall as the screen (eg 2.35:1) you get bars at the top and bottom.

Alright, thanks! I've only had the TV for a couple months and this is the first time I have watched a 1:66:1 OAR DVD on it.
