hearing cb radio through my HT?

I've been having this problem where everytime a semi drives in front of my house if the driver is on the cb it comes through my HT. and the worst thing is that it's LOUD. I can be listening at a very low volume but this comes blasting through like my volume is maxed out. how do I get rid of this? I don't want my reciever or speakers to blow out because of it.

From kyes.com ...

"1. CB or Amateur Interference: Check to see if the TV volume control affects the interference level. If it does, install a "high-pass filter" at the antenna leads. This is a filter which will not allow signals in the the low part of the radio spectrum to pass through it. The name "high pass filter" is all you need to know to purchase one. If the TV volume control has no effect on the interference level, go to step 4. If you still receive the interference after installing a high-pass filter, go to step 3."

If a local smokey bear’s got a footwarmer, just keep on his back door and make sure he keeps barefoot, Good Buddy. Drop a line to Big Charlie and maybe he’ll give that County Mountie a double Van Gogh… even take away that boy’s glory card. Is that a four? Just keep your ears on, and I’ll be on the side. Over.

When are you getting the interference, when you are listening to the radio, or just using the reciever of you HT anytime? You are having an intermodulation problem between the CB frequency and the mixer of your amp or TV. You do not want to put a high pass filter in becasue you will lose a range of frequency on your reciever. If the problem is your over the air radio then you can use a notch filter tuned to the CB band so it never mixes with you and causes the intermod problem. If it is actually mixing with the mixer of your reciever then you would need to take apart the reciever and put a filter inline which will be a huge ordeal. Your easiest bet is if you can hear any call signs of the truckers as they go by is to write them down and contact the FCC, we have a lot of problems with overpowered CB radios interfering with our equipment. If you email me with more of what all is going on I can explain it and how it can be fixed and if not who you can contact with the FCC to try and stop the truckers. It might seem grim but its not too big of a deal to fix as soon as we figure out exctally what the problem is.

Uh, yeah, that's a big 10-4, Pig-Pen. Yeah, we definitely got us the front door good buddy. Mercy sakes alive, looks like we got us a convoy."
