how much is a tivo without a remote worth?

hi! I switched from TiVo to Comcast's DVR recorder and want to sell my TiVo (1st generation 30hour).. problem is, i lost the remote. What would a fair price to ask for the unit be? (it works perfectly, just no remote).
thanks!

A TiVo is pretty useless without the remote as I'm sure you know. You can buy a replacement on the TiVo site for about $30.00. Maybe you can get them cheaper somewhere else. Also, I'd be pretty sure some universal remotes come with TiVo codes built in.

Another factor is whether it includes lifetime service. If it doesn't, you'd be really lucky to get $50 for it.

You can get a real TiVo remote on Ebay for about $12. I'd defiintely do that before trying to sell it, otherwise it's fairly worthless.

The remote is the best part about TiVo.

And I could never understand how people lose the remote.

I have a Marantz RC5400 touch-screen remote, so I never used the TiVo remote. I was thinking that maybe someone with a programmably remote would want the TiVo, since the remote wouldn't be needed...

A friend lost their Tivo remote and got a new one on Ebay for $10. There are a whole bunch more for auction, so just get another remote and charge whatever you want for the complete Tivo.

Are those ebay prices including the Sony SAT T-60 remotes? Or are they generic? Last time I checked, the sony remotes were going for $60-70, even used!
