Thinking about getting this TV thoughts/advice on it??

My budget is around $1500. i am basically looking for something thats got a great picture, sound and thats going to last. I don't want something thats going to break down in 5 years. Whatever I get though i will get an extended warranty.

Plus I will be moving in the next year or 2 and don't want to have to move a huge ass TV. I was pondering upping my budget to $3K and getting maybe a low 40" LCD with no burn issues, smaller and lighter for moving, and would fit on my current TV stand, but I don't think I could spend that much on a TV....unless somebody really really sold me on it, that is great quality, it would last and I wouldn't have burn issues.

I am pondering these sets

http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...to+51+inch+TVs

or this Panny
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Panas...oductDetail.do

I have heard good things about this Panny, but what about the Samsung?? Are Samsung good sets? Will they last? Picture quality?

If somebody wants to suggest some great LCD's in the low 40" range under $3K with a extended warranty that would be great too if I decide to up my budget.

Thanks!!!!!

The Samsung HC-P4241W you link to looks pretty good for $1,100. Samsung is pretty good overall.

And the last link you posted is cookie-sensitive so it only works on your computer--I think. For those interested, it's the Panasonic PT-43LC14 ($2,299). That sucker is sure nice, and I wouldn't mind getting that one either. Of course, if you can justify another $1,200, then you certainly can't go wrong.

Thanks for the info DVD, after a month of searching/researching my TV selections I am finally going to go with the Panasonic PT-43LC14, I looked at it again at CC last night, and I just love it, thats the one I am going to get.

I should have my Panny tomorrow (PT-47X54)

You can find it cheaper here: www.onecall.com (shipping included and no tax)

Hmmm thanks for the link candy, I haven't heard of onecall before. Have you purchased from them before? Do they have good customer service? Is OneCall good about honoring there warranties service wise?

HOLY CRAP! OneCall has my TV for $400 less than BB, and there 3 year extended warranty is $189, thats $200 less than BB too!!

BETTER THAN THAT!! I can go up to a 50" instead of a 43" with warranty and still be under my original budget, HOT DAMN!

Shipping is $200 though, while BB shipping is free, but I am still saving an extra $400 on the price. Damn

Warranty Info
"With larger TVs, the cost of transporting the TV to and from the repair station (also known as a trip charge) is also covered. " Now does this mean that I have to transport the TV, and will be comped' later on, or OneCall will p/u my TV and take it where it needs to be repaired?? Not sure there, I def don't have the ability to transport a TV back and forth.

OneCall has a GREAT Bizrate rating, damn!

Anybody have any experience using OneCalls warranty. I would like some detailed information on how they handle it.

Thanks again candy!!

Thanks

They've got great reviews over @ the avsforum.com

There's an official 47X54 thread there as well.

Yes, Onecall is great for finding deals. If you live in the NW, you'd get your TV very quickly as they are in Spokane or thereabouts. Go to Techbargains.com and be sure you haven't missed any coupons or whatever. You're making a big purchase and I'd hate for you to post something like: OMG, I could have got the same thing for $700 less at so-and-so!"

Thanks for the heads up but OneCall blows for delivery. No weekend delivery available. WTF? I gotta work, so does most of America. They only deliver during the week, whats up with that? If I buy from them then I gotta take a day off work to have it delivered. Geeze I knew it was too good to be true on the savings....looks like CC or Video Only now. Oh well

My tv was delayed by day...so hopefully...I'll have it tomorrow.

I'm taking off half a day for delivery.

They use ABF Freight for Delivery. You can actually schedule a delivery appointment with them, once your item arrives @ the warehouse. Not sure if they can deliver in the evening. Here's their # 1-800-610-5544

If you're still interested in the PT-47X54, I believe CompUSA (B&M) has it for $1049.99. It's a manager's special, so YMMV.

You can't take maybe a half-day off? Save $300? I am surprised they don't deliver on Saturdays.

They deal with ABF Motor Freight, FWIW.

Here's a link to much info about their special deliveries, rates, etc. A few PDFs you will need to download.

http://www.abfs.com/resource/?NCHK=STAB

If they can do a Saturday delivery, I am most certain they can arrange it with OneCall.

Watch for the kind of delivery when ordering online. When I ordered my Toshiba 55" HDTV a couple years ago I got A great deal from an online company. However, when it came, it was delivered by one small guy holding a clipboard. He was just there to drop it off and have me sign for it. I had to run around the neighborhood looking for a few guys to help me carry it up to the 2nd floor....

One Call does offer an shipping upgrade ($$$) called "White Glove Service". Basically, the delivery guy(s) bring the unit inside, unpack it and connect it.
