TV Is Too Dark

First off let me apologize if this topic has come up before, I couldn't find it in a search. Anyhow, I've got your standard sony flatscreen wega tv. The problem is that whenever I plug in a dvd player, xbox or ps2 the screen is sooooo dark. Not to mention that the video gets very pixalated. I've tried bumping up the brightness and using monster cables but they don't seem to help. Does anybody know a way to remedy this? THANKS!

When I plug something into the normal AV outlets, this occurs. TV is set up normally to my knowledge.

I've never looked at the back of a Wega, but don't you have S-video or component inputs?

Yeah it does have both, but neither do any good. The screen is just dark in general when i'm using it for something other than tv. I've just about had it and are thinking of tossing it.
