Hookup Computer to SONY Receiver

Okay. I just purchased a SONY STR-DE995 receiver and I have been stuck in a snag hooking up my computer so I can listen to my mp3s, games, etc through my recevier and speakers. I have Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound card and NVIDIA drivers and the most recent version. So I bought a digital coax cable that hooks up to the back of my computer and plugged it into my receiver in the coax slot right below the optical slots. But I still cant get any sound and it now shuts of the sound to my dvd player. I switched the options so the DVD goes to video one and I can hear the dvd player, but not the computer still. I dont know if anyone has any suggestion or how to help me out, any response to sites or your suggestions would be grateful. My email is [email protected]. Thanks.

Most DD 5.1 audio cards require you to "Enable" the digital output to get a signal through the Digital output of the card. Look in the settings of the drivers for the audio card for something like enable Digital output or something similar.
