T.V. for $1500 to $2000
I am looking for a tv for between 1,000 to at most 2,000. I have looked around, at big screens and the wife complains that most of the tv's we've seen have to much glare. Can you guys make any suggestions.

From: The chair at the top of the stairs..
the glare is caused be the protective screen they have on models in stores.. you can usually get the tv with or without the protective screen..
Example: I've got this set without the screen (this is a link with the screen though) LINK
Are you looking for a widescreen or 4:3 model?

I bought a Toshiba 51H83 for that price range an absolutely love it. It's a widescreen version. So far, I've had nothing but awesome experiences with Toshiba big screen tvs. All of them have been fantastic.

I've got a 55" in a 13'x20' room and sit 8' away from eyes to screen. I wish I bought the 65". That's when viewing DVDs or HDTV. When you watch SDTV from that distance it's just tolerable. So it really matters how far away you'll be sitting more than the size of the room.

I would stay away from the HDX line of Toshiba projections...especially at the prices listed. The HDX line had issues surrounding the CRTs that many people complained about. I would search for the newer H93/HX93 series or look for the H82 series. The H82 series did not have the DVI input that the HDX82 series had, but it also didn't have as many issues that the HDX82 series had. For the price you're looking at you could walk into a Best Buy and get a new H93 Toshiba and use the 10% off coupon that's floating around the bargains forum(preferred customer weekend coming up)...I am a Toshiba fan...but I waited until the H93 series came out to buy my next set.

Depending on where you are, you may still be able to find the Pioneer 643 on sale at Costco for $2000. This is essentially the Pioneer Elite 710 from a few years back. Killer deal. 64" though, too big for some.

I am going to go in a slightly different direction. I have seen Sony's 34 inch 16:9 and it looks awesome. Direct view CRT is a way sharper picture then other technologies. It is much smaller than many of the other suggestions but it has a much better picture. I guess it depends on you priorities. It costs $2800 CDN so it is probably in your price range. That would be roughly $1960 US.
