Does this reciever sound salvagable?
My friend had a Sony DE-845 or whatever model which blew the fuses a couple weeks ago......so after ordering the "special" fuses that Sonys says will work, it happens again, this time maybe with a little smoke
It's past warranty and he was going to pitch it so I took it just in case there's something that can be done. Does it sound shot? I'm not looking to spend $100 or anything to get it repaired either. It was working fine but spent a couple months in storage during a move and never worked at the new house.
Can it even do ANYTHING at this point? I have a receiver which I pretty much use to just run all my components through in the bedroom since my TV has one RCA input and that's it. Would this receiver at least be able to do that do you think?

the risk is that the receiver could blow out your speakers in a blaze of glory
Personally i would just toss the sony and buy a new receiver.

Actually it does serve a purpose I just found out. In my bedroom I need something to host all the inputs from all my components like DVD, video games, VCR, etc. since my TV has only one set of inputs.
And it at least does that so it's good for something.
