component rack/storage shelf
i would like to buy something like this: http://www.ikea-usa.com/product_pres...ART&id=471,468
does anyone know of anything similar to this but for cheaper, and if so where? just want to make sure i don't spend $80 on it when i am pretty sure there are similar things out there for $40.
i only need 4 racks but 5 is ok too, doesn't need to have vented bottoms and doesn't need wheels.

Check your officemax. they sell an audio stand for around $59, sometimes $49 depending on if it's on sale. or try wal-mart or some other discount store.
finding an audio rack for $40 is going to be really, really difficult. $80 is already pretty cheap. most people spend $200 or more (I spent $400 for my TV stand).
if you really can't afford a more expensive stand, then you can always buy raw materials and build one yourself.

consider yourself lucky at $80. i spent over $300 on my rack, and around that on my cd/dvd shelves too. $80 is like highway robbery man. getting something much cheaper might not be able to even handle the weight.

ok thanks. i have seen component racks that are 200+, but those are usually wooden or good metal. i was just looking for something really basic like this ikea one, which i guess i might get.

just keep one thing in mind... most component racks (that arent necessarily stereo component racks), arent all that deep. at one time i was looking for a cheap one, and they were all 12" or so deep. get one thats a good 20" deep if you can. if you get a 5 disc changer, processor, amp, whatever, it wont fit on a smaller one.
