voltage and frequency question.

would a US model TV's and Home theater equipment with 110v and 60 Hz input work in Asia where the plugs are 220 V 50 Hz output? I know that voltage can be stepped up with a converter but I heard that the cycle (Hz) can not be stepped up with a consumer type converters. Would that damage the equipment by not having the same cycle?

I would appreciate an opinion from experts or anyone with prior experience.

Thanks for help.

I would check the nameplate on the TV to see if it is rated for 60/50 Hz. I assume a TV runs on DC power and the input voltage is converted.

Most likely the frequency difference doesn't matter. I think at one time some clocks might have used the requency to track time but now I think no consumer electronics does (unless it has an AC motor in it).
