Mintek 5830 Portable Player

What's the opinion on the Mintek 5830? I'm looking for an ultra cheap portable to watch at work... (heh) and this one looks pretty good so far. Anyone know if it's hackable for regionfree play?

Let me say first that I have no personal experience with this player. However, I do have a lot with portable DVD players in general.

”Quality products” is not something that automatically comes to mind when I hear the name “Mintek”. They make low-end products.

I looked up reviews, however, there aren't a heck of a lot for this particular model. Reading Amazon's user reviews, it seems this player isn't a terrible product, and would probably work well for watching a movie at work.

If you're interested, you could always buy one, try it out, and if you're not satisfied, return it. I always suggest trying it out in the store before doing any of that, though.

You might also want to look into Walmart's Initial 8" Portable DVD Player . Believe me, 8" is much better than 5.8"; I've had both.

Sorry I really wasn't much help. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to know and I'll do my best to give you an anwser.
