dvd players w/ dts decoding; how does it work?
ok, i have an old HarmanKardon receiver and it doesn't have DTS decoding. it still works great (although i'm annoyed i have to manually switch from optical to coax digital audio...) so i don't want to upgrade it yet.
i'm considering a dvd player that has built in decoding for DD and DTS. can i hook it up to my receiver and i can listen to DTS soundtracks?

Any DVD player that has a built-in DD or DTS decoder will output 6 analog channels. For you to use that, you'll need a receiver or pre-amp that has 6 channel input.

I just bought the panny CP72 and connected it to my old trusty Denon 3200 (which also lacks DTS, but does have 6 channel discreet input).
The only movie I've tried so far is 102 Dalmations. I'm hoping to try Gladiator this weekend.
So far I love this DVD player. It's gotten me MP3 playback, DTS decoding, 5 disc, etc.
Even has Farouda (sp?) chipset progressive scan in case I ever upgrade my TV.
