Best entry level DVD player?
Anyone know? Im looking to pick one up for my little brother, who is 14. He doesn't need extras like pro scan, etc.
I also dont wanna spend too much, but something that will make him happy. He will probably only watch about 3 or 4 movies a month.

Bestbuy.com has a progressive scan on sale this week for $79.99 (plus free shipping). I know you said you didn't need a fancy one, but at $80 its not a bad deal at all. Here is the link.

I think a Panasonic RV32 is your best bet. I would stay away from the cheap brands (like Mintek, etc) because they don't have much quality control and your player might not last long at all.
I bought a Daewoo back about 9 months ago, I use it about once every 1 or 2 weeks and the sound went out on me 2 weeks ago. I could have spent alittle more and got a more reliable unit.

there is a good pioneer out there. its the DV-354. retails for around $119, lately its on sale for $109. but, they have a $20 rebate on it, so its only $90. personally, i think its a little better than the panasonic 32K. it competes with players up to $149. its definately a good buy. also has 96/124 audio processing too.
