Setup for 51" Sony HDTV

Greetings! I'm looking for some advice on how to rearrange my Home Theater due to the hit in space I'm going to incur by upgrading to a 51" HDTV (widescreen) next weekend.

There doesn't seem to be any TV stands (even short ones) for a TV of this size. My dilemma is how to compress space. I need to find a way to stack up my DVD player, receiver, etc. since my current TV stand will be obselete.

I'm considering buying smaller front speakers - any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks
Travis

I cut a hole in the wall for my TV and Entertianment unit but granted that may be a little extreme for most people.

You wouldn't want to put that size TV on a stand anyway. They are set up to be at appropriate hieght when put straight on the floor. If you need to gain space, you might just want to get some shelving and attach it to your wall above the TV. There you could put your Receiver and DVD player, etc. Make sure you get the industrial stuff if you do this.

Not all projection TVs come to the right height. I think it was Toshiba and Hitachi when I was looking that sat pretty damn low and the sales person kept talking about the stand, the extra stand sold seperately.

What do you mean by Industiral Stuff?

Putting up some shelfs acutally crossed my mind.

Thanks for your help!

Also, I still swear I've seen TV's of this size on a small stand before.

There is regular shelving that goes in your kids room to hold up books, then there is shelving which is made to hold hundreds of pounds. Make sure you get the strongest stuff you can find.

And... I guess they do make you buy shelves for some TVs, but if the manufacturer doesn't make one specifically for your TV, you can bet that it is not meant to be up on a stand.
