Web Site for High End Only?

I am looking for a website which is like AudioAdvisor except for Home Theaters. Is there a web site out there that just sells high end Home Theater equipment?

Not too worried about price right now. I just want a web site that can let me compare high end "audiophile" home theater equipment without having to deal with the cheeper stuff out there.

Define cheap stuff please... There is a difference between cheap and inexpensive.

I am looking to spend close to $1000 to $2000 on an A/V receiver. I want to beable to go to a site and compare all the high end equipment with out having to sift through low end products. I have nothing against those kind of products, I just am looking for some high end stuff.

To be honest, nowofdays 1000-2000 is more like mid grade when we are talking about receivers. Flagship models usually run 2500-4000 dollars currently.

Another thing to take note is that most high end receivers are not authorized to be sold online hence, the lack of web sites with many of the more expensive models. The best authorized dealers I can think off the top of my head are Crutchfield, J and R, and Onecall.

Other than that, you are probably better checking out the manufacturers web sites for their specs and offerings then posting back here or at the Home Theater Forum if you have questions or need opinions.

I understand what youare saying, but IMHO I wouldn't consider a 1-2K receiver a high end product. Sure they will sound good and have alot of features, but they are maybe midfi at best.

The receiver lines above $3K from Denon, Pioneer Elite and Marantz are the only high end receivers out that even rival low end seperates.

If you want true high end get a pre/pro and a solid 5-6 channel amp from:

Levinson
Krell
Jeff Roland
Lexicon
McIntosh
Conrad Johnson
Sonic Frontiers
McCormack
Aragon
Bryston

etc, etc.

You could get a nice pre/pro and 5 channel amp for $2K.

It will be hard to find a site that compares receivers and doesn't include the $500 ones also.

The best thing to do would be to find out which brands you want and compare them at your local dealers and at www.audioreview.com

Thanks, I had no idea Crutchfield carried this higher end stuff. The give you the info you want and best of all, pictures. It is easier, at least for me, to see what I am getting rather than reading about it.

When you said high end...I was thinking Krell, Lexicon and the likes. I would recommend HTF for reciever in your price range. You may have to read through some 800+ but you will get good info

I second this. Not that much high end gear is sold on the web. Hit the manufacturers web sites and use the dealer locator to find retailers.

Agree...

I was thinking the same thing, although I would probably add McIntosh to that list... high end and A/V receiver usually do not get used in the same sentences (except in extreme cases).

Can't wait until my McIntosh MX-134 Pre-Amp is ready, I hope it lives up to all of it's hype...
