Laserdisc player--AC-3?
I was looking into purchasing a used laserdisc player and was wondering if there is a master list of which players came out with AC-3 capabilities already built in? A lot of ads don't list this feature even though they may have them. Anyone know which ones had this feature?
Also, anyone know of places locally where they may have picked up a player? Where are the best places to call?
Thanks!!!

NO LD player has ever come out with AC-3 capabilities! Some do come with a RF output (which requires a RF Demodulator in the surround receiver or as a seperate external one) that allow for AC-3 decoding but that is the only was you can get AC-3. Laserdisc specs were finalized long beofre AC-3 became a reality so it could not be implimented! In fact I even have a combo DVD/LD player and you still need a RF Demolulator to get AC-3 from LD even though playing DVD's you get it through the Coxial or Optical digital outputs! External RF Demodulators will run around $150-$200 so you need to be aware of this cost as well if you want to hear AC-3 on LD. You may get lucky and score a older used receiver that has a built-in RF demodulator for a good price but those a fairly rare to begin with.
Also of note, to be able to hear DTS audio LD's you only need the LD player to have a Optical or Coaxial digital output (and a surround receiver to decode it of course).
