I think this is great news. I also think that we will see this format sooner than later. The fact that DVDs are increasingly more popular the best reason to release this format now. Manufactures will be releasing players which play both DVD and BlueRay disc, becuase of the popularity of DVDs. If they want to gain a strong market appearance, they have to appeal to current DVD owners. The other reason why I see this format coming out soon, is so the studios can release yet another version of a popular movie. First they will release the bare bones DVD, then the Special Edition DVD, then the Blue Ray Disc. The studios love money, so they will support this format. As for copyright issues, everything can be pirated, the trick is to make it difficult enough where pirating is more expensive then buying the the disc. I mean honestly, who would spend time and money copying a DVD when they are so cheep? I await this new format with open arms.

They were all demoed at CES this year. Recording HD of the show and then playing it back for people to see.
