placement of center speaker

Hi,

I have an energy take 5 speaker system. currently, the center speaker is placed horizontally, in the tv stand under tv. Now since I have more compoents going in to the tv stand, there is a need to put the center speaker vertically (i.e. rotate 90 degree). I need to put it in between a replayTV and a cassette player. I was wondering if there would be any effect to audio quality by doing that.

Thanks!

Why not put it on top of the set?

If it's the typical center speaker with two drivers flanking the tweeter (looks like OoO), then placing it upright will make for a somewhat more narrow dispersion field and sound stage. I'd look for a way to keep it horizontal.

A common thing to do, as palebluedot noted, was just to center the center channel on top of your TV. I do that, and it works great for me...and you don't want the sound coming out at you too low anyway.

I have always had mine centered on the top of the set and as far forward as possible.
