HTIB at Best Buy under $300
OK, I've convinced my GF to dump her college-era boombox and setup a mini HT. Only problem is it has to be under $300. I saw these two at Best Buy today

I searched and looked around and couldn't find any reviews.
Your help is greatly appreciated!

For a starter, I purchased a similar 550-Watt Philips HTIB from Best Buy. I love it, and swear by it. As far as getting a good 'bang' for your buck --- that's where it is! Good luck.

I purchased a Kenwood HTB-504 from Sears for 400 after a price match. The lesser version, the HTB-503 is basically the same, with a different remote and a reciever that doesn't do Pro Logic II, is about 300 and you could find it online for even cheaper. The sound is great for the price. The reciever is sturdy, well built, and powerful. The subwoofer is good, the speakers leave a little to be desired, but if your girlfriend isn't an audiophile then I'm sure she won't see a problem.
