Making Vcd's

I want to make my movie trailers and other movie files that are in .mov and .avi format into a format that I can watch on my dvd player. I need to know how to burn these files onto a cdr that will be read as a vcd on my dvd player. I can't seem to figure out how to get it to work. Surely somebody out there knows how to do this. Please reply if you know something about it.
Thanks

If you are using a Mac, it's really easy. Edit them using either QuickTime or iMovie and then burn them using Toast 5.

on pc, use nero 5.5.x.x simply chose the video cd option, drag the movie file in to the disk image window. nero should convert what ever movie file you have chosen into to mpeg1 and simply burn this to a disk and hay presto u have a working vcd.
